About Our Clinic

Washington Park Medical Centre operates as a walk-in clinic and urgent care clinic in Courtenay, BC

Washington Park Medical Clinic has been serving Comox Valley residents and visitors since 1994. Patients are seen on a first come, first served basis, unless there is a medical requirement. No appointments will be arranged over the phone. Insured and private medical services are available to all BC residents and visitors. We offer an elevator for our patients who have trouble with stairs. The clinic accepts cash, debit, Visa, MasterCard, American Express and will issue a receipt for any charges that the patient incurs.

Please phone the clinic if you have an urgent medical issue. An MOA or LPN will get your contact information and a doctor will phone you back to discuss your needs. If the doctor feels you need to be seen in person they will arrange that during the phone call.

There will be NO drop in clinic options during this time of social distancing and other COVID procedures. If you phone in after hours, there will be updates on our answering machine about the next day’s schedule.

How to Get Help When the Clinic is Closed

1. For emergencies: call 911, or visit the emergency department at Comox Valley Hospital in Courtenay, BC.

2. For non-emergency situations: call 811 for HealthLink BC Nurses Helpline

Policy for Posting Hours

  • Always call the clinic at (250) 334-9241 before visiting to confirm their hours. Hours are subject to change without notice.
  • We regret that at times we may have to close early due to the generalized shortage of Doctors in BC and the government daily cap on patient limits. High volumes of patients may require that registration be closed earlier than hours stated.

Appointments

  • Patients are seen on a first come, first served basis, unless there is a medical requirement.
  • Appointments will not be arranged over the phone.

Doctor Preference

  • If you wish to see a certain doctor, you should check in 30 minutes before their shift begins, or check in at least 1 hour before their shift ends.

Medical Forms

  • If you have a form to be filled in, please tell the receptionist when checking in and we will try to assist you.
  • There are fees for certain forms.

Prescriptions

  • We do not renew prescriptions or give test results over the phone, however, we will try to answer your calls personally.
  • Please note: our physicians do not routinely carry triplicate prescription pads.
  • Make sure you renew your prescription at least a week before you run out of medication.

  • If your visit is due to a work related incident, please inform the receptionist at check in.
